Trauma Resilience in UK Policing

Dr Jess Miller and former colleagues at Bournemouth University publish new data indicative of a link between the Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor gene (BDNF) and trauma resilience, calling for more research.

The paper explores the link between the BDNF gene, hippocampal integrity and individual's ability to contextualise traumatic memories. The authors provide new exploratory data and review increasing literature which suggests that gene-based trauma processing may improve intervention outcomes.
